Privacy Policy

The short version

SpeechDeck does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything you create — students, decks, and response logs — stays on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking. We don't know who you are, and we like it that way. This is especially important because the app is used with children.

Information we collect

None. SpeechDeck does not require an account, email address, phone number, or any form of registration to use the app. The app functions entirely on your device with no network communication.

Student data

When a clinician or parent adds a student, the app stores only a first name or initials — no last name, no date of birth, no required identifying fields. Response logs (Correct, Incorrect, Cued) and accuracy history are stored locally on the device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is never uploaded to any server and is not accessible to us or any third party. Deleting a student removes their data; deleting the app removes all locally stored data.

Children's privacy

SpeechDeck is designed to be used with children, and is built to collect no personal information from them. The clinician or parent is the device holder, and even they enter only minimal identifiers (first name or initials). Because we collect no data off-device, transmit nothing, and integrate no advertising or analytics, the app is designed to be consistent with COPPA and GDPR-K principles for working with minors.

Photos, audio, and file access

SpeechDeck's built-in cards ship with the app. If you use the add-your-own-card feature, the app accesses only the photo you choose and the audio you record for that card, with your permission, and stores them on the device. The app does not access your contacts, location, or any other device data beyond what you explicitly provide.

Exports you create

When you export a session or date range as a PDF or CSV, the file is generated on your device and handed to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes next — email, AirDrop, Files, or another app — is entirely your choice. SpeechDeck does not upload or retain a copy.

Third-party services

SpeechDeck does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services. The only external services involved are:

• Apple App Store — for purchase processing and app distribution, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Apple StoreKit — for in-app purchase verification, handled entirely by Apple on-device.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update this page with a new effective date. Given that we collect no data, we do not anticipate significant changes.
